After that is another pyramid-like set of blocks, this time with a pit in the middle. Bricks and ?s can be found, followed by a pyramid-like set of Hard Blocks with a gap in the middle. A Koopa Troopa and more Little Goombas appear. The top block contains a Fire Flower (or a Magic Mushroom if Mario is small). There are two bricks after that the second one contains a Starman. There is a brick down below contains ten coins that the plumbers can retrieve by jumping repeatedly underneath the brick. Additionally, Little Goombas start falling down from a long row of blocks above. After that, assuming the pipe was not taken, there is a hidden 1 up Mushroom block and a pit followed by another ? containing an item, possibly a Magic Mushroom or Fire Flower, depending on the their form. The final pipe among the set leads to a bonus area of coins and can be entered to bypass much of the level. A set of Pipes can be found, with Little Goombas located in between them. They then reach the first ? of the game, and afterward the six block triangle formation of ?s and regular bricks (with a Magic Mushroom inside the left block). As Mario or Luigi moves forward, a Little Goomba appears and starts walking towards them. This level starts out on a flat, open path. Of coure, this isn't unheard of (buzz bombers appear in many stages across classic games), but I do want to see mostly unique badniks for each stage, that make the stage not only look but also work different from each other. We've seen that purple static spikeball appear in Bridge Island and in the squid section of the Minecraft Sonic stage. That also extends to badniks, by the way. They don't look like they're very much bound to the stage, or made so that the stage uses speed in a particular way. Bridge Island looks like a lot of fun to play, but aesthetically speaking those gimmicks sometime stand out: the stage itself is all made of stone while most gimmicks are made of metal? Which makes them look like they could appear at any point in the game. I understand stage gimmicks are in fact very common in Sonic, but far more often than not they are functionally and aesthetically made to enhance a certain feeling that's particular to that stage (except for the ones that appear in every stage, like springs).
